The "PERRY MONUMENT" in PRESQUE ISLE STATE PARK is a VERY POPULAR TOURIST ATTRACTION. It's been Part of the State Park for many years. When My Parents Visited ERIE we would always travel thru PRESQUE ISLE & Stop by the "PERRY MONUMENT" & take a LOOK Across the Bay at The City Of Downtown ERIE & DOBBINS LANDING. The View across LAKE ERIE is MAGNIFICENT. My Youngest Daughter was INTRIGUED by the "PERRY MONUMENT" & wrote a School Term Paper when she went back to School some years ago. BTW, She received an A+ on her Paper about ADMIRAL PERRY. The "PERRY MONUMENT" is a PART of a FAMOUS HISTORICAL NAVAL Battle in the year of 1812 & to think about it makes you feel HONORED to STAND in the SAME SPOT where MEN fought for their's & other's FREEDOM.
Many informational signs about the history of why this monument exists make this more than just an obelisk.
This is nice state Park with ammenities for everyone. The Perry Memorial is really interesting and educational. Take the time to visit the memorial and spend the day here.
